Fun Stuff

From the kitchen of Elizabeth Stevens:

In A Taste of Magic, Elizabeth bakes up a batch of magical brownies to bring men (sexy men, of course) flocking to her door. These brownies are rich, chocolaty, and you can make them too!

Bewitching Brownies

1 1/2 cups of unsalted butter
2 cups of cocoa powder
6 large eggs
2 cups sugar
2 cups light brown sugar, packed
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
Optional: Chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, macadamia nuts, walnuts, etc.
Optional: One Magical Wish

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 baking pan and set aside.

In a medium saucepan, melt all the butter over medium heat, stirring so it doesn't scorch. Remove from heat. Add 1/3 of the cocoa powder, stirring until combined, continue with remaining cocoa powder. Let mixture cool slightly.

In a large bowl, whisk all six eggs together. Add sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla, stirring until combined. If desired, speak your wish out loud while stirring. Fold in the chocolate mixture, followed by the flour and salt. Stir until just combined. Don't over mix!

Pour batter into prepared baking dish, spread evenly, making sure corners are filled. If desired, add optional toppings to batter. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean. Let cool. Slice and enjoy!

Yields: 24 brownies

WARNING: Casting wishes is dangerous business. It is Elizabeth's recommendation to think very carefully about what you want to wish for, and speak the wish slowly and clearly. Amazing results are possible, but not guaranteed.
